How to get help from YCNC:
To talk to us about what you need, come to our Lismore office or phone to make an appointment with our Intake and Assessment Coordinator on phone (02) 669 85 616.
This appointment is to establish your needs and to how YCNC best can assist.
So what kinds of services does YCNC actually provide?
- Listening to you in a safe place and helping you work out what you need this is called intake and assessment. You can drop in or call and make an appointment with the Intake and Assessment Coordinator.
- Meeting with you to make a plan for how you can address your needs, who you can go to for the stuff you need, help to get you there, and sometimes advocating or speaking for you with other workers, teachers, family or government organizations, this is called case management. Case management is about you and your needs, so you’re not expected to fit into a mould but can be who you are and build on your strengths and goals.
Temporary supported accommodation, where you get to live in shared accommodation with other young people and YCNC helps with the rent, so you only pay 25% of your income, plus expenses. You get to work with a Youth Wellbeing Facilitator, and have some help to develop skills to live independently.
YCNC is a registered specialist youth community housing provider with properties located in Nimbin, Lismore and Goonellabah.
Places are limited in our accommodation, so you need to show that you are ready to live in shared accommodation, want to work with a Youth Wellbeing Facilitator , want to get into or stay in education, and have some goals you want to achieve while in supported accommodation.
- Counselling – meeting with an accredited counsellor for about an hour to talk through any issues or problems you are having, and how you can address them. Counselling is free but you need to call (02) 6622 3143 to make an appointment.
